  1. Hi Melissa,
I will be hosting an open mic this Friday, July 8, at Root Coffeehouse for anyone who wants to sing, play, or read poetry. It will be 6-9 PM and there will be a sign-up board for 3 songs or 15 min, whatever comes first. Pass the word.

  2. Ms Johnson — Your reading at the Johnson County Library, May 16, was incredible. Thank you for sharing your work, and in the process sharing your life(story). I had wanted to stop by and thank you personally, and introduce myself to you and your husband (we have much in common, save the chickens, not that!) but the moment didn’t present itself. Again, thanks.

    1. Thank you so much! This makes my whole day. I love doing readings, but it’s pretty nerve-racking, and sometimes I wonder if I’m connecting with anyone. Messages like this one mean so much. Yes, I wish we would’ve talked! Maybe another time. Thank you again.

  3. I’m doing a project on living poets and I choose you! I was wondering if I could get some information about you and what made you decide to do poetry and also what made u become a English teacher as I’m planning on taking the same route and will be attending pittstate next semester
